The international trade of fresh vegetables and fruit has greatly changed during the last 15 years. The changes in consumer behaviour,
the concentration in retail, the deduction of small trading companies in Western Europe and many other reasons did clean up our branche. By constant modifying our company to the new circumstances, Jan Oskam BV was able to expand. The radius in which we could serve our customers in the early years was about 400 km, nowadays we also serve customers 4000 km away.
In the last decade of the 20th century, the fall of the Berlin Wall was of great influence for the further development of our company. Eastern- and Western Germany were united and an explosive growth in exports was set in motion to former Eastern Germany. Jan Oskam BV did expand also to other countries. Today we sell our products into most countries in Eastern- and Western Europe.
In the first years of this century, the world became smaller for Jan Oskam BV. We began to import goods out of China, Vietnam, India, Egypt and South America. Nowadays an important part of our trade is coming out of imported goods.
Modern means of communication caused more transparency in trade, but also the changes in our branche are going faster then ever. Jan Oskam BV keeps monitoring and modifies the company when ever a change or opportunity occurs.
